Protect kids online

Tiscali & the Internet Watch Foundation

The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) is the only authorised organisation in the UK operating an internet hotline for the public to report their exposure to potentially illegal content online. Today (24 October 2008) is the IWF National Awareness Day. We encourage you to support the aims of the IWF. You can find out more about the IWFs work and how you can report abusive content below.

Originally set up as a self regulating industry body but now a registered charity, the IWF works in partnership with UK Government departments such as the Home Office and the Department of Trade and Industry.

As a funding member of the IWF, Tiscali supports their aim to minimise the availability of potentially illegal internet content, specifically:

  • child abuse images hosted anywhere in the world
  • criminally obscene content hosted in the UK
  • incitement to racial hatred content hosted in the UK

  •
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) provides a dynamic list of URLs for websites which contain potentially illegal child abuse content. This list is supplied to companies like Tiscali who have voluntarily agreed to use it to block access to these URLs, thereby protecting their customers and other internet users from being inadvertently exposed to such content.

Earlier in 2007, the UK Government asked internet service providers to state if they were or were not taking the IWF list. Tiscali is taking the IWF list and has agreed to be included.

As a funding member of the Internet Watch Foundation, Tiscali is working with the UK Government, its agencies and other industry partners to ensure that illegal internet content is unavailable online in the UK. Find out more about our work with the Internet Watch Foundation.
