Recycle waste electronic equipment now

Tiscali is pleased to support recycling.

From 1st July 2007 recycling waste electronic and electrical equipment just got easier.

As a Tiscali customer from time to time you may have a modem or even a computer you want to dispose of. However we are all aware of the problems of waste and want to recycle where we can. This guide will help you to be more environmentally friendly.

• Each year in the UK households throw away almost 30 million tonnes of waste

• The energy saved by recycling 1 aluminium drink can is enough to run a television for three hours
• The energy saved from recycling 1 glass bottle is enough a power a lightbulb for four hours
• Disposable nappies take 500 years to decompose
• Producing steel from recycled material saves 75% of the energy needed if steel were made from virgin material
• Every tonne of paper recycled saves 17 trees
• Electronic waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams and much of it can be recycled and resources recovered to make new consumer goods.

Tiscali backs recycling

Tiscali, along with other companies, is helping you to recycle any unwanted waste electrical goods. To do this Tiscali has contributed towards a national fund to assist local councils to further develop their existing waste electronics collection facilities, which will in turn allow producers of this equipment to meet their obligations.
