Since it opened in May 2007, the Anita Lawrence Beauty Spa has been offering a variety of treatments including facials, body treatments and wraps, massage, waxing, tanning, nails, make-up, pregnancy treatments, men's treatments, bridal packages, permanent make-up, botox and collagen fillers. We were lucky enough to experience a De-stressing Soother body treatment... read on to find out more.
Oooh the excitement...
I had the opportunity to try a body scrub and wrap at Anita Lawrence's Beauty Spa, located on 36 New King's Road in the heart of London's cosmopolitan Fulham.
Having been recently refurbished this year, the salon gives off an immediate feeling of calm and tranquility with its impressive glass wall entrance, dark wood panelling and fresh green mosaic tiles.
To maximise my body treatment experience I was asked to complete a survey on how I want to improve my physical and emotional well-being. Did I want to leave the salon feeling relaxed or energised? Was I looking to de-stress and clear my mind? From my answers, my therapist Leann was able to prescribe the right spa products to best suit my needs. These products all hail from the Aromatherapy Associates range, renowned for containing only pure, natural plant oils without any added colour or synthetic preservatives. Celebrities like Dannii Minogue, Jodie Kidd, Liberty Ross and Sadie Frost all rave about the effectiveness of the range.
Time to relax
Survey complete, I was lead downstairs away from the bustle of hairdryers, manicures and make-up and into a quiet, more private room reiterating the zen-like interior above but with more ambient lighting. After disrobing, I lay on plush towels while Leann applied an all-over body exfoliation scrub made from ground olive stone combined with energising lavender and peppermint bath and shower oils.
Once the polish was cleaned off with warm water, my newly invigorated skin was massaged with oils rich in grapefruit, rosemary and juniper berries; this was applied and left to nourish and sink in for some 10-15 minutes as I lay wrapped up in towels and plastic wrap for maximum moisturising effect. During that time I was given the option of either a foot, hand or head massage and chose the latter.
Before my head massage commenced, I breathed in frankincense essential oil known for their calming qualities. My scalp was deeply massaged with a lot of pressure (which I like!) but you can always tell them to ease the pressure if you're more sensitive-prone. After what seemed to be a blissful amount of time, it was time to unravel my plastic and terry towel cocoon. Leann stretched and massaged each of my limbs to get my circulation flowing again and brushed off any residual oils with a dry bath mitt.
The body wrap treatment lasted about an hour and in that time, my mind felt like it was slowly drifting away from the present with the relaxing zen music being played out in the background throughout the treatment.
I left the salon feeling refreshed and restored physically and mentally and couldn't stop touching my super smooth and velvety soft skin all day! It's not everyday that you come across a salon that helps you unwind and relax so completely, but now that I've found it, it's going in my little black book.
The popular body wrap I experienced is known as the De-stressing Soother and costs £75 but the Anita Lawrence Beauty Spa also offer an excellent variety of face and body treatments ranging from £9 for an upper lip wax to £250+ for specialised botox and collagen therapy. It's worth bearing in mind if you're looking for a gift then the salon also offers specialised pregnancy and men's treatments as well as gift vouchers to suit everyone.
