The May Fair Spa Pevonia Detox Aromatic Seaweed Wrap

After over indulging at Christmas and braving the daily cold and wet of January, my body was certainly appreciative of the glorious Pevonia Detox Aromatic Seaweed Wrap I experienced at the May Fair Spa in London's iconic May Fair Hotel.

The environment

On arrival after my long day at work, I was pleasantly greeted by professional staff at the luxurious spa, in the basement of the plush hotel. A Buddha waterfall adorned the reception wall, the lights were dimly lit and the ambience was calm and tranquil. I was shown around the spa and was more than welcome to use any of the facilities including sauna, steam room, ice room and relaxation room. All I had to do to get ready was change in to my yummy towelling robe and slippers and wander at leisure before my treatment.

The treatment

Monica my therapist took me to her treatment room which was spotlessly clean, comfortable and, lovely and warm. Monica ensured that I kept my modesty at all times so for those of you who prefer not to bare all, you don't need to worry about that here. The first stage of the treatment involved a good body brushing, followed by a heavenly body scrub. There are different brushes you can choose from ranging from soft to a little more bristly. Monica will ensure she doesn't use anything too abrasive for your skin. Only the part of your body that is being treated is exposed, the rest of the time you are cosy beneath a nice warm crunchy towel, so no getting cold in this treatment room. Monica then went on to give my skin a good scrub with seaweed salt scrub. It's a great feeling to have those nasty toxins below the skin broken down and be rid of dead skin cells.

Next comes the best part of the treatment. Monica heated up a wonderful seaweed lotion and then applied it to my arms, legs, back and stomach. My modesty respected at all times of course. Then followed the cling-film! Monica wrapped up my masqued body in cling-film and then zipped up a large heated cover around me. Blissfully cocooned in what was like a giant sleeping bag, cling-film and body masque, I relaxed for 20 minutes, all the time Monica massaging my head and scalp.

After the massage, Monica un-wrapped me and I then stepped into the luxury walk in shower situated in the room. Surprisingly the masque washed away easily.

The result

The last stage of the treatment involved me hopping back on to the bed and having Monica apply luxury seaweed moisturiser all over me. When the end finally arrived I felt completely relaxed, exfoliated, pampered and silky smooth.

Monica my therapist couldn't have been more professional. My comfort was her priority and I felt very confident that she knew exactly what she was doing.
