Richard Ward is the largest hairdresser and salon that I have ever visited. Located by exclusive shopping district Sloane Square, I can imagine the metro-spa at Richard Ward is frequently visited by Sloane Rangers and rich tourists alike. Set into a beautiful old building in Duke of York Square, you first enter the reception, where you are then directed upstairs into the salon itself. The salon oozes current and trendy vibes. Young cheerful staff, buzz here there and everywhere and whilst waiting for your treatment, you can indulge in a beverage at the swanky bar. Richard Ward is the GMTV hairdresser, so book an early morning haircut and spot a celeb sat next to you.

Once taken through to the Metrospa I was introduced to Tuu. Born in Thailand, the motherly figure has been working at the salon for 15 years! I followed her instructions to sit on the massage chair and bathe my worn and tired feet into soft soapy water. The hour to follow was bliss. Tuu was very gentle, and not once was there any discomfort. Out came the scraper and file, and hard skin was removed painlessly and swiftly, revealing new soft skin underneath. Cuticle cutters came in handy for the skin that had overgrown around my toenails and all was miraculously removed. My poor little toes have double nails growing on them, one of which is grubby and pointless. Tuu said I didn't need it, so off it came. I didn't feel a thing and my little toes now look normal. As well as all the vital treatments necessary to remove unwanted dead skin and skin build up, I had wonderful lotions and potions applied to make my feet feel refreshed, soft and smooth. Best of all - my toenails weren't cut and filed too short, which is painful and something I could easily do myself. Finally, I selected my toenail colour, had my nails painted and then I was ready to rock.

I left the salon with twinkly-pink toenails and lovely smooth soft skin. Tuu gave me advice not to wear flip-flops and also to wear a shoe that would support my high instep to avoid overgrowth of skin on my heel. I felt much more girlie after the treatment and proud to show off my new feet. It was a pleasure talking with Tuu also who was called Mama by everyone in the salon. Although the salon was 'dead trendy' I didn't feel intimidated and the feel is not at all pretentious. Plus, prices are no more expensive than your average salon. Book a treatment for early morning and then treat yourself to lunch in the square followed by an afternoon shopping. That would certainly make for a great day.
