Elemis Day Spa

The NEW Face and Body Sensation:
Described as “a sensational massage combined with a prescribed booster anti-ageing facial”, this treatment lasts 55 minutes
Atmosphere in the Elemis Spa:
Soothing, luxurious décor. A gentle ambience with the therapists padding around in bare feet and speaking in hushed tones.
The Face and Body Sensation treatment:
Before the treatment comes the ‘Complexion Analysis Report’ – an egg-shaped machine takes a photo of your face and provides a print-out report on the state of your skin from dehydration points to wrinkles and UV spots. Not the most flattering of things to look at but enough to help my therapist decide what to focus on and for me to realise that I need to look after my skin better.
The Face and Body Sensation starts with the a 30 minute massage. My therapist suggested Tranquillity, a ‘thermal-soothing’ massage using oils and hot stones for a relaxing experience. The alternative was the Re-Energiser, an ‘ice-cool thermal’ massage which would have been more invigorating.
This was followed by the 25 minute Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial. Creams came and went, serums were gently tapped into my skin, amazing fresh and floral aromas drifted around and the tri-enzyme mask was applied. The mask stays on for several minutes as the enzymes work their magic, cleansing the skin and ridding it of dead skin cells. The mask sets into a rubbery substance which is peeled off, removing with it the impurities and leaving you fresh-faced.
I’m sceptical about many of the beauty industry’s extravagant claims and need to see real results for myself to feel satisfied with a treatment.
The tri-enzyme resurfacing facial really did make my skin look clearer, smoother and fresher. It felt great and looked squeaky clean and hydrated afterwards.
At £85 it’s not cheap and if you’re looking for a good old pummelling massage this isn’t the one for you but as a treat for your skin it’s a lovely, calming treatment with real results.
