Your wedding dress could be the most expensive item of clothing you will ever buy. To help you ensure your dress fits perfectly and makes you feel like the princess you deserve to be on your special day, we've compiled the ideal practical wedding dress timeline.
12 months to go
- Decide on how much you plan to splash out
- Choose your colour or colours
- Decide on whether you want a theme
- Research designers, stores and stockists and note them down
- Buy magazines to cut out anything that takes your fancy
11 - 8 months to go
- Arrange dress appointments - make a day of it with a few bridesmaids
- Keep a note of the details
- Begin to look at headdresses, veils, tiara's, jewellery and shoes
7 - 5 months to go
- Decide on your dress! Order it, pay deposit
- Take photos of yourself in your dress (away from the grooms eyes)
- Experiment with accessories and be ready to decide on what to go for
- Make sure you have wedding insurance to cover the dress (ideally to have been taken out as early on as possible).
5 - 1 months to go
- Have a fitting, take along shoes and all other accessories
- If you're still losing weight you must make sure you have more fittings and have the final fitting as close to the wedding as possible
3 weeks to go

Make arrangements to pick up your dress
- Store in a safe place in a dust cover hanging up
- Look for a specialist dry cleaner so your are able to have your dress cleaned whilst you are on your honeymoon.
