The most important thing is to know her SIZE! When she is out have a quick look through her lingerie draw and scan the labels for a two-digit number followed by a letter or set of letters, something like 38C or 42DD.

Style

Colour
Similarly think about the colours she likes and has in her wardrobe. For example, if she wears vibrant, rich colours steer clear of pastels. If she prefers quiet colours, then she probably won't like things in bright or deep colours.
If you want to buy her something to wear under her daytime clothes, don't buy rich colours if she usually wears light coloured clothing, as it will show through. (There are lots of things in nude, blush and white that won't show through)
