The 'Booby' Trap
  • Over 70% of women wear the wrong size bra because they make do with what they have or incorrectly choose the size they think they are.
  • Most women buy too big in the back and too small in the cup.
  • Choosing the wrong bra can be responsible for skin problems, back pain and poor posture, as well as causing the obvious aching breasts.
    Bad fitting bra
    Bad fitting bra
    1. Straps digging into shoulders. Go down a band/back size.
    2. Breasts bulging over the bra. Too small,
    go up a cup size.
    3. Bra rides up at the back. Too big, go
    down a band/back size.
    4. Front of bra sits away from chest wall.
    Go down a band/back size.
    Well fitting bra
    Well fitting bra
    1. The breasts are smoothly enclosed in cups with no bulging.
    2. The front of the bra lies flat against your body.
    3. The bra is firm but not tight and leaves no red marks on your body.
    PROBLEM: Bulging bust?
Solution: A bulging bust creates unsightly curves, ruins your outfit and causes sore red skin. Bulging busts are usually caused by a bra, which is too small, especially in the cup area. To remedy this, get measured and fitted regularly as bust sizes change.

    PROBLEM: Wrinkles on your cup?
Solution: If the fabric on your bra cup wrinkles, it is probably because there is too much fabric; it's too big for you! A well-fitted bra should fit smoothly over your bust without excess fabric showing. Your cup size should be measured accurately to ensure a smooth fit.

PROBLEM: Bra riding up? Solution: Your bra should be level front and back. If it rides up, it's not supporting your breasts properly. This is probably due to the under band being too large and can be remedied by being measured so your correct back size can be determined.

    PROBLEM: Digging in?
Solution: This can cause major discomfort due to ill-fitting underwires and straps. Initially, ensure you have the correct sized bra, but also pay attention to fitting, which is often overlooked. Adjustable straps should be correctly positioned and underwires flat against the contours of your bust.

How will I know if it's right?
To check your bra fits properly, lean forward when putting on the bra so the breasts fall into the cups and adjust the bra straps until you feel comfortable. Now stand in front of the mirror and have a good look. A good fitting bra should be comfy and the breasts supported by the body, not the straps. If you're wearing the right bra you should hardly notice you're wearing it!
