Welcome to Week 6 of my specially prepared spiritual and psychic development workshops.
By now, if you have been practicing the meditations, and psychic exercises, you will be experiencing some deeper insights into your own life, as well as taking a somewhat different attitude to others.
All the workshops in this eight part series, are designed to be utilised by a single individual assumed to be working on their own - you!
Of course if it is possible for you to coax a friend or partner into doing the work with you, so much the better for everyone concerned, but like I said, these workshops are uniquely tailored so that you can develop privately and on your own.
Welcome to this week's psychic and spiritual development workshop. I've designed these sessions so that they can be undertaken on your own - although of course it is alright to share the studies with one or more like minded people. Today we're going to look at dowsing with a pendulum. A pendulum can be any length of string with a weight tied to the end of it.
It's the operators that invent a pendulum with its quality. As in any other work, the spiritual aspect should always be uppermost and in this way only the best aspirations and good will be served.
Human beings have used pendulums to get guidance about problem areas in their lives for thousands of years. We will concern ourselves here only with a personal pendulum that can be held in the hand (or mouth or foot if otherwise unable). It was recorded in Roman times that a tripod was used from which was hung a length of thread at the end of which was a ring.
In a circle round the outer ring of the tripod were letters, and the pendulum swung towards each one in turn to spell out answers to questions asked.
This may seem to be akin to a ouiji board, except that if no human being is physically connecting with the pendulum, other forces must be operating.
The chemist Chevral in 1850 publically debated whether a pendulum was moved by the angelic hosts or devilish minions, while in these more materialistic times, dowsing with pendulums is often explained in quasi psychological and scientifically acceptable terms.
The idea of a spirit-side source of energy that can manifest on this side of the veil, as the division between this life and the next is called, is oft times dismissed by sceptics and scientists - I think because of a basic old fashioned fear. However, as a Spiritualist medium, I am convinced that we all have at least one 'angel' with us if we try to do the right things in life, and that is who swings the pendulum for us - give or take our own inperceptible muscle twitches that could give the lie to our results! So we must proceed with care and caution.
Before we commence our practise, you must make your statement that everything you do, you do only with the best and highest intentions, and in the name of love and truth and light. Ask for the energy that you use in this task to be replaced, thank your helper from the spirit realms for helping.
First prepare your own pendulum. the basic pendulum can be approximately 3-6 inches (6-12 centimetres) of string or thin chain, tied to which is a ring or small piece of crystal quartz - or a plain plumb bob from a DIY shop, and a blank piece of paper.
Then, when all has been done, sit quietly, in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Pull the phone out, switch of your mobile, and tune in to your higher self and your spirit guide.
Put away the cares of the day and close your eyes. Imagine that there is a doorway in front of you. As you look through it you can see a beautiful room full of soft light, filled with a beautiful flowers of many colours.
There is a fountain in the middle of the room. Spend some time wandering around among the flowers, become aware of other beings in the room, also admiring the flowers, and congregated around the fountain. Stay for a while, and then refreshed, return back through the doorway. Close the door behind you and find yourself back in the same place you were in when you left. As you feel your physical self again, wriggle fingers and toes, open your eyes, and pick up your pendulum.
Try as hard as you can not to concentrate your own mind on the questoin that you would like answered. It may be easier to write 'yes' at the top and bottom of the paper, and 'no' on the two side edges, and allow the pendulum to swing accordingly.
A good test is to ask "Is my name X?" and if you have given the correct name you should get a yes, and of course vice-versa. Good vibrations and happiness in all you do - practice makes almost perfect!
