When I was about 14 or 15 years old...I was travelling with my parents and sisters and brother to visit friends, it was in the midst of Winter, and although early in the evening it was already dark.
At the bends on the Ballinluig Road, heading towards Pitlochry, we spotted a train. All the carriages were lit up and it looked really lovely. My Brother was very small and just loved trains so we were pointing it out to him, when without warning the train started to slip down the embankment ( the River Tay runs close by )looking as if it was falling into the river!
My Dad stopped the car, grabbed his torch from the glove compartment, and headed off through the field towards the train to see what help he could offer... Also at this time, two other cars stopped and both drivers ran accross the field to see if they might help too ( there were no phone boxes close, mobile phones were not even thought of!) But when they arrived on the scene, there was no sign of a train anywhere.... no people ...nothing !!!
We still talk about it to this day and know that it must have been a Ghost train, as we discovered much later the railway had subsided at that point many years prior to our incident and that lives were lost.
No train was running through to Aberfeldy the night we witnessed our strange phenonenom!
