Checking for cancer in undescended testes
I had testicular torsion as a kid, which was sorted out very early and both testicles are still intact.
I am concerned however, about my ability to have children. Does this operation leave people in full working order, or is it likely that I may now have a problem?
Answer
You were extremely fortunate to survive a testicular torsion with both intact.
If the condition is diagnosed quickly and surgically corrected immediately, as in your case, testicular function may be fully retained.
Unfortunately, testicular torsion can lead on to reduced fertility or infertility in a significant proportion of sufferers and therefore is is possible that you may now have a problem.
You can assess your fertility by having a semen analysis performed.
