Can I extend my foreskin?
Other Qs & As
Circumcision for tight foreskin
I am Jewish and I am circumcised.
I have noticed for a while that the edge at the tip of my penis is incredibly sensitive â to the stage where I have to pull my underwear right up above my waist because the slight rubbing is irritable.
To be honest this has in the past affected my sexual performance because if is very sensitive - but this is not my main concern - every day that it's uncomfortable it is getting unbearable.
I have thought about seeing whether I can have an operation to some how increase the skin around that area? It's driving me mad.
Answer
An operation to 'increase the skin' around the tip of the penis (in other words, giving you a new foreskin) is incredibly difficult. It is sometimes attempted in the USA, where there are a lot of men who are deeply resentful at having been circumcised at birth - and who want to get their foreskins back.
However, I know of no surgeon in Britain who has any worthwhile experience of doing this operation. Things could easily go wrong. So I strongly advise against having it done!
Some American guys have tried to 're-grow their foreskins back' by hanging weights on the skin of the penis. Again, I'd strongly advise against this â because it could damage you.
I am sorry that the tip of your penis is sore. But what can be done about it?
Well, I think you should get it checked out by your GP â just in case there's anything structurally wrong (which is unlikely). After that, all you can do is apply a bland, anti-friction ointment or cream to the tip once or twice a day, in order to avoid rubbing. Start with Vaseline, which very often solves the problem.
Yours sincerely
