Question
My son has occasional problems with bedwetting - once a month or less.
He is going on cub camp in the summer and will be away for two nights.
I am concerned that he may wet and know he would be upset and embarrassed in front of his friend.
Is there any medication he could take short term to ensure this does not occur?
Answer
There is a medication that inhibits urine production in the short term and some patients are prescribed it for bedwetting - it's called 'Desmospray'.
It's only available on prescription from your GP so you'll need to make an appointment and they will tell you that this is powerful medication which shouldn't be used lightly.
Also, there is no guarantee that it will provide dry nights on those particular nights so a short-term solution is difficult.
If the bedwetting although infrequent is inhibiting him from participation in these kinds of events it is worthwhile seeking specialist help for a long-term solution anyway.
Yours sincerely
