Can a child with croup go outside if it is cold but dry?
How contagious is to other children?
Answer
Croup tends to be caused by a wide variety of bugs - most commonly the same viruses which cause sore throats and colds. So it is as infectious as a cold is.
Croup just means the type of cough (barking) that can occur when the throat is inflamed.
The answer to the question about cold, dry conditions is that it depends what conditions set off the coughing. In some children, cold, damp sets it off. In others, it is cold, dry which sets it off.
The atmosphere itself can't do any harm, so just pay attention to the effects of different conditions and avoid the ones that cause the coughing.
Yours sincerely
