How often will my baby see the health visitor?
Other Qs & As
At what age do babies start teething?
Please could you tell me how often will my baby see the health visitor once she has taken over from the midwife?
Answer
There is no right or wrong answer to this question.
The number of times a baby is assessed by their health visitor depends upon their general well being and how frequently their mum chooses to take them for advice or to have them measured and weighed.
There is a minimum number of occasions when the health visitor and/or GP become involved between birth and age five, as part of the NHS child health surveillance programme.
The aim is to spot any problems as early as possible so that any necessary action may be taken.
Your health visitor will tell you when they are due. They normally take place at;
The message to take away is, if you are concerned about something at any other time, don't wait, ask to see someone.
Don't be afraid of wasting people's time.
Yours sincerely
