She has problems reaching orgasm
Other Qs & As
Question
I am a 63-years-old female and in a fairly new relationship.
I have never reached orgasm easily and now I cannot do it at all. I have ordered a product through the Internet called Androfit for Women and am concerned about its safety. It has androstenedione 25 per cent as its main ingredient.
Can you advise me?
Answer
David writes:
I'm quite astounded at this. Androstenedione is a powerful sex hormone, and selling it without a prescription is of doubtful legality in the UK at the present time.
I don't think there is the slightest chance that using it will make you climax. It would be far more sensible to get some expert advice, and perhaps embark on an orgasmic programme, involving counselling, workshops and helpful videos.
Good luck.
Christine adds:
Yes, I too am worried about this Internet stuff. Instead I think you'd be better getting help from a good gynaecologist who is able to help you with legitimate hormone treatment. You can also get in touch with the Amarant Trust and its menopause clinic. Although they are principally concerned with women going through the menopause, they could be useful to talk to about your sexuality and possible hormone deficiency. Unfortunately, their excellent helpline had to close on June 30 2006 because of lack of funding, but consult their website at: www.amarantmenopausetrust.org.uk.
Then, I think simple sex aids would be of great benefit. For instance, many women of your age have learned to reach easy and regular orgasms by using a good vibrator.
Finally, there is an article on this website called 'Are you having trouble reaching orgasm? A guide for women'. Please read it.
All these options are much safer - and much more likely to work - than buying preparations over the Internet. I hope thing improve for you very shortly.
Best wishes.
Yours sincerely
