Side effects

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. - Difficulty in sleeping (insomnia)

- Drowsiness
- Sweating
- Disturbances of the gut such as diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
- Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
- Indigestion (dyspepsia)
- Balance problems involving the inner ear (vertigo)
- Dizziness
- Excessive fluid retention in the body tissues, resulting in swelling (oedema)
- Difficulty in breathing (dyspnoea)
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- Skin reactions such as rash and itch
- Anxiety
- Increased bleeding time
- Ulceration or bleeding of the stomach or intestines
- Kidney disorders
- Infertility in women
- Wound bleeding

How can this medicine affect other medicines?

You should tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are using, particularly those listed below, before you start treatment with this medicine. This includes those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines. Likewise, check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any new medicines while you are taking this medicine. This medicine should not be used in combination with any of the following medicines: - aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), eg ibuprofen, diclofenac - medicines to prevent blood clotting (anticoagulants), eg warfarin, heparin - lithium - probenecid - pentoxifylline (oxpentifylline). There may be an increased risk of side effects on the kidneys if this medicine is taken with any of the following medicines: - ACE inhibitors, eg captopril, enalapril - ciclosporin. This medicine may reduce the effectiveness of diuretics such as furosemide at treating fluid retention and high blood pressure. This medicine should be used with caution in people taking methotrexate, as it may increase the blood level of methotrexate and hence the risk of side effects.
