Simeticone works by bringing together all the small bubbles of gas that can get trapped among the stomach contents. This forms large bubbles that are more easily expelled by burping or passing wind. The medicine works locally in the gut and is not absorbed into the bloodstream.
The medicine helps to relieve abdominal pain, flatulence, wind and bloating that can be associated with a build up of trapped gas in the stomach or intestines.
One or two chewable tablets or gel caps should be taken three or four times a day as required to relieve symptoms (eg after meals and before going to bed).
