Side effects

Problems with urinating

Breathing difficulties due to a narrowing of the airways (bronchospasm)

Disorientation

Fluctuating abdominal pain (colic)

Rash or itching

Constipation

Changes in mood

False perceptions of things that are not really there (hallucinations)

Nausea and vomiting

How can this medicine affect other medicines?

There is an increased risk of drowsiness and sedation if this medicine is taken with other medicines that cause drowsiness, such as the following: - tricyclic antidepressants, eg amitriptyline - other narcotics, eg codeine - benzodiazepines, eg diazepam - sedating antihistamines, eg chlorpheniramine - sleeping tablets. There may be a risk of side effects if this medicine is taken with monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressants (MAOIs) such as phenelzine. For this reason, the manufacturer states that this medicine should not be used by people who are taking MAOIs, or who have done in the previous 14 days. There may be an increased risk of side effects if cimetidine is taken with morphine.
