Dentinox infant colic drops

How does it work?

Dentinox infant colic drops contain the active ingredient simeticone (previously spelt simethicone in the UK), which is a type of medicine called an 'anti-foaming agent'. It reduces the amount of trapped wind in the gut.

Simeticone works by bringing together all the small bubbles of gas that are trapped among the stomach contents when a baby swallows air. This forms large bubbles that are more easily expelled by burping or passing wind. The medicine works locally in the gut and is not absorbed into the baby's bloodstream.

The medicine helps to relieve the abdominal pain (gripe, colic or wind) that is common in both breast and bottle fed babies as a result of trapped wind caused by swallowing air.

One 2.5ml spoonful of the medicine should be given to the baby with or after each feed. Follow the instructions in the leaflet provided with the medicine. The medicine can be added to the infant's bottle or given directly into their mouth with the spoon or oral syringe provided with the medicine.

What is it used for?

Gripe, colic or wind caused by swallowed air in infants.

Warning!

Shake the bottle before giving a dose of this medicine.

Do not give more than six spoonfuls (15ml) in 24 hours.

You can continue to use Dentinox colic drops for several weeks. However, if your baby's symptoms persist or seem to be getting worse, seek medical advice from your doctor, health visitor or pharmacist.

Not to be used in

This medicine should not be used if your child is allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if your child has previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel your child has experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
