Ralgex heat spray

How does it work?

Ralgex heat spray contains two active ingredients: glycol monosalicylate and methyl nicotinate.

Glycol monosalicylate has anti-inflammatory and painkilling actions. Methyl nicotinate is a counter-irritant, which when applied to the skin, works by causing redness and heat to be produced. This distracts the brain from the original pain and therefore reduces perception of the pain.

This combination of medicines, in the form of a spray, is used to provide fast relief of muscular and rheumatic pain, and stiffness. The medicine is absorbed rapidly into the skin from the spray and massage is not required.

What is it used for?

Muscle pain and stiffness, eg backache, fibrositis, sciatica and rheumatic pain.

Warning!

Follow the instructions for use provided with the spray. Shake the spray well before use. Always use the spray sparingly, as overuse can cause discomfort.

This medicine is for external use only.

Avoid inhaling the spray and getting it in the eyes.

Do not apply to the head and neck, or to broken or sensitive areas of skin.

Use the spray on a small area of skin first to check for sensitivity.

Your skin may be more sensitive to this spray from day to day, and is likely to be more sensitive after taking a hot bath or shower, or in hot weather.

Use with caution in

People with sensitive skin.

Not to be used in

People allergic to salicylates, eg aspirin.

Children under five years of age.

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

The safety of this spray for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. The manufacturer states that it may be used with caution, but that as with all medicines, you should consult your doctor before using it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Side effects
