How does it work?
Flurbiprofen belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
What is it used for?
Warning!
- Do not exceed the recommended dose of this medicine, which will be stated in the product packaging or information leaflet supplied with the medicine.
- This medicine should not be used for longer than three days. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
- These lozenges should be moved around the mouth while sucking them, to avoid irritating one particular area of the mouth.
Use with caution in

Asthma
- Decreased heart function
- Decreased kidney function
- Decreased liver function

High blood pressure
- People with potential for prolonged bleeding
Not to be used in
- Children under 12 years of age
- History of narrowing of the airways (bronchospasm), inflammation of the nasal membrane (rhinitis) or itchy rash (urticaria) caused by aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Intolerance to aspirin, ibuprofen or other related painkillers (NSAIDs) taken by mouth

Peptic ulcer or a history of this
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.
- This medicine should be avoided in the third trimester of pregnancy, as it may affect the growth and development of the foetus or have harmful effects on foetal tissues. Seek medical advice from your doctor before using this medicine during any stage of pregnancy.
- This medicine may pass into breast milk, but in such small quantities that it is unlikely to harm the baby. Seek medical advice from your doctor before breastfeeding.
Side effects
Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all people using this medicine will experience that or any side effect.
- Rash
- Diarrhoea
- Indigestion (dyspepsia)
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice)
- Mouth ulcers
- Nausea and vomiting
- Alteration in taste
- Excessive fluid retention in the body tissues, resulting in swelling (oedema)
- Decrease in the number of platelets in the blood (thrombocytopenia)
- Bleeding from the stomach or intestine
- Severe swelling of lips, face or tongue (angioedema)
- Itchy rash (urticaria)
- Mouth irritation
