How does it work?
This medicine contains two active ingredients, calcium carbonate and simethicone.
Calcium carbonate is an antacid that is often included in preparations used to relieve indigestion. It works by binding to excess stomach acid, which decreases the acidity of the stomach contents. This helps to relieve the symptoms of acid indigestion and heartburn.
Simethicone is an 'anti-foaming agent' which reduces the amount of trapped wind in the gut. It works by allowing gas trapped among the stomach contents to be released as larger bubbles rather than multiple small bubbles. This helps to relieve flatulence and belching caused by trapped wind.
What is it used for?
Belching and burping
Excess gas in the stomach and intestines (flatulence)
Heartburn
Indigestion symptoms related to excess stomach acid
Upset stomach characterised by stomach pain and burning, nausea and excess gas (dyspepsia)
