How can this medicine affect other medicines?

Thyroxine blood levels may be decreased by carbamazepine and phenytoin. The dose of lyothyronine required by the body may change when taken with anti-epileptic medicines. Liothyronine may increase the anti-clotting effect of medicines such as warfarin. The dose of the anti-clotting medicine may need to be decreased. The level of cardiac glycosides (eg digoxin) in the body may be reduced in individuals taking thyroid hormones, and an alteration of the dosage may be required. Thyroxine may increase the effect of tricyclic antidepressant medicines. This may also result in an increase in side-effects. The amount of thyroxine absorbed from the gut is decreased by cholestyramine.
