Side effects

How can this medicine affect other medicines?
This medicine may provoke digoxin toxicity by reducing potassium levels in the blood (hypokalaemia).
Most classes of diuretics will induce low blood levels of potassium which may be made worse when taken together with carbenoxolone. This also occurs when taken together with corticosteroids.
This medicine may interact with medicines for high blood pressure making the condition more difficult to control.
Spironolactone and amiloride may inhibit the healing action of carbenoxolone.
The antacids in this medicine can interact with a wide variety of medicines by affecting their absorption and excretion.
The blood levels of the following medicines may be increased:
flecainide
mexelitine
quinidine
The blood levels of the following medicines may be decreased:
diflunisal
aspirin
ciprofloxacin, oflaxacin, pivampicillin, rifampicin, tetracyclines
itraconazole, ketoconazole
chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine
phenothiazines
oral iron
dipyridamole
penicillamine
lithium
