How does it work?

Human chorionic gonadotrophin is obtained from the urine of pregnant women. This medicine mimics the action of the pituitary hormone called luteinising hormone which controls the release of eggs from the ovary in women, and controls production of the male hormone, testosterone in men. It is used to stimulate egg release (ovulation)in some infertile women after follicle development has been stimulated with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). In men it is used in the management of delayed puberty, undescended testes and oligospermia (low sperm count).

What is it used for?

Delayed puberty in boys. This is when boys do not develop secondary sexual characteristics at the normal age (12 - 14 years old).

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.
