How does it work?

This acts against breakdown of clots (by inhibiting or stopping plasminogen activation and fibrinolysis), and so it is useful in stopping severe blood loss as it increases clot formation.

What is it used for?

Abnormally heavy bleeding during, and after, the surgical removal of the prostate gland

Abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding

Nose bleeds

Surgical procedures and dental extractions for people with haemophilia

Use with caution in

Blood present in urine (haematuria)

Decreased kidney function

Diseases that cause abnormal blood clotting

Long term use of this medicine requires regular eye examinations and liver function blood tests

Not to be used in

Blood clot in the blood vessels

This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
