Side effects

  • Dizziness or loss of balance
  • Drowsiness
  • Confusion
  • Fatigue
  • Addiction to the medicine (dependence)
  • Muscle weakness
  • Loss of memory (amnesia)
  • Disturbances of the gut such as diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
  • Shaky movements and unsteady walk (ataxia)
  • Unexpected increase in aggression (paradoxical aggression)
  • Changes in sex drive

    How can this medicine affect other medicines?

    When clorazepate is taken with the following medicinesthere may be an increase in sedation: antidepressants anti-epileptics alcohol monoamine oxidase inhibitor anti-depressants narcotic analgesics remoxipride sedating antihistamines, such as chlorpheniramine Clorazepate may increase or decrease blood phenytoin levels. Clorazepate taken with clozapine can result in a drop in blood pressure and breathing rate. This may lead to a loss of consciousness.
