How can this medicine affect other medicines?
Sulfametopyrazine increases the risk of kidney damage if this drug is taken with cyclosporin.
Sulfametopyrazine when given with the anti-malarial pyrimethamine may decrease the levels of folic acid in the blood.
Sulfametopyrazine when given together with the antiepileptic drug phenytoin may increase the level of phenytoin in the blood and may also enhance the effects of the drug in lowering the levels in folic acid in the blood.
The blood thinning effects of nicoumalone and warfarin are increased.
The effect of sulphonylureas may be enhanced leading to low blood sugar levels.
The risk of toxicity from methotrexate in increased when used with sulfametopyrazine.
Sulfametopyrazine may reduce the effectiveness of the combined oral contraceptive pill.
