How can this medicine affect other medicines?
The following medications may reduce the effectiveness of prednisolone:
-Rifampicin
-Carbamazepine
-Phenobarbitone
-Phenytoin
Prednisolone may oppose the blood sugar lowering effects of antidiabetic medicines.
Prednisolone may disturb the salt and fluid balance in the body, thereby reducing the effects of antihypertensives and certain diuretics.
Caution should be observed when prednisolone is used with asprin and carbenoxolone.
Prednisolone causes an increased loss of potassium from the body, which can lead to adverse effects when used with other medications which have the same effect. These include acetazolamide, and the loop and thiazide diuretics.
