Side effects

How can this medicine affect other medicines?
When taken together with the following medicines there may be an increase in CNS depression, respiratory depression and hypotension:
tranquillisers
sedatives
tricyclic antidepressants
opioid analgesics
alcohol
When taken together with the following medicines there may be an increase in opioid action:
cimetidine
phenytoin
When taken together with the following medicines there may be a reduced opioid effect:
rifampicin
urinary acidifiers
Naloxone antagonises the effects of methadone.
Naltrexone may precipitate long term withdrawal symptoms.
Buprenorphine or pentazocine may precipitate withdrawal symptoms.
Mono-amine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) anti-depressants may cause CNS excitation or depression.
