How can this medicine affect other medicines?
The effects of the following medicines may be increased when taken together with diazoxide:
diuretics (water tablets)
blood pressure lowering medicines
anticoagulants (blood thinning medicines)
There may be an excessive rise in blood sugar levels (hyperglycaemia), if diazoxide is given with other medicines with hyperglycaemic activity, such as the thiazide diuretics (for example bendrofluazide).
When given with hydralazine, there may be a large drop in blood pressure which may be life threatening.
When given in combination with phenytoin, there may be a reduction in the level of phenytoin in the blood. This may lead to a decrease in the beneficial effects of phenytoin.
There may also be a decrease in the effects of diazoxide.
