How can this medicine affect other medicines?
Aspirin increases the effect of blood-thinning or anti-clotting medicines such as warfarin. Therefore, unless treatment is started by a doctor, with careful adjustment of the anticoagulant dose, the two should not be taken together.
Aspirin reduces the rate at which the body can remove the medicine methotrexate. The two should not usually be taken together.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) should not be used within 8-12 days of taking mifepristone.
Except when used at a low dosage for anti-clotting purposes, aspirin should not be taken with any other NSAIDs due to an increased risk of adverse effects on the gut.
When aspirin is taken with corticosteroids there is an increased risk of stomach ulceration and bleeding.
Aspirin can prevent the action of certain medicines for gout, such as probenecid and sulfinpyrazone.
Dipyridamole increases the effect of the anti-arrhythmic drug adenosine. The dose of adenosine required to treat arrhythmias in people taking dipyridamole will need to be much lower than normal.
Dipyridamole may worsen myaesthenia gravis in people taking anticholinesterases (e.g. distigmine bromide) to treat this condition.
