Fucidin Ointment




How does it work?

Fusidic acid is an anti-bacterial agent and is used to treat a number of bacterial skin infections. It acts in the bacterial cell by preventing the production of essential proteins necessary for the growth and survival of the bacteria. It is effective against several bacterial species and used in the treatment of infections such as impetigo (characterised by blistering and yellowish-brown crusting of the skin), whitlow (paronchya) and inflammation of hair follicles (sycosis). It is also used to treat eczema or dermatitis associated with bacterial infection (secondary infections). This medicine is available in several preparations, as a cream, gel, ointment and impregnated dressing.

What is it used for?

  • This preparation is for external use only.
  • Prolonged use of antibacterial medicines may result in the development of resistant bacterial organisms.
  • Avoid contact of this medicine with the eyes.

  • Infections caused by the bacterium pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.

    Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
