How does it work?
Doxepin hydrochloride belongs to a group of medicines which relieve itching (pruritis). It is not know how it works.
What is it used for?
- Pruritis associated with eczema
Warning!
- As with all topical medicines the absorption and therefore the effects may be enhanced by the use of occlusive dressings. Occlusive dressings should not be used in children.
- Drowsiness can occur when treatment covers 10% or more of the body surface area. This occurs because some of the medicine is absorbed through the skin. Do not drive or operate machinery if affected. Alcohol could increase the drowsiness.
Use with caution in
- Children under 12 years of age
- Difficulty in passing urine (urinary retention)

Glaucoma
- Mania
- Severe liver disease
Not to be used in
- Known sensitivity or allergy to any ingredient
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

Label warnings
- Follow the printed instructions you have been given with this medication.
- This medication may cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcoholic drink.
