Side effects

Headache

Dizziness or loss of balance

Drowsiness

Confusion

Fatigue

Addiction to the medicine (dependence)

Muscle weakness

Loss of memory (amnesia)

Disturbances of the gut such as diarrhoea, constipation, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain

Shaky movements and unsteady walk (ataxia)

Unexpected increase in aggression (paradoxical aggression)

Changes in sex drive

How can this medicine affect other medicines?

When clorazepate is taken with the following medicines there may be an increase in sedation: antidepressants anti-epileptics alcohol monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressants narcotic analgesics remoxipride sedating antihistamines, such as chlorphenamine Clorazepate may increase or decrease blood phenytoin levels. Clorazepate taken with clozapine can result in a drop in blood pressure and breathing rate. This may lead to a loss of consciousness.

Other medicines containing the same active ingredient

There are currently no other medicines available in the UK that contain clorazepate dipotassium as the active ingredient.
