How can this medicine affect other medicines?

Opioids should not be taken with MAOI anti-depressants or for two weeks after they have been stopped. When taken together with SSRI or tricyclic antidepressants there may be an increased risk of convulsions. When taken together with other medicines that have a sedative effect on the central nervous system, for example, alcohol, sleeping medicines, antidepressants and antihistamines, drowsiness is likely to be increased. When tramadol is taken together with carbamazepine, blood levels of tramadol may be reduced leading to a loss of analgesic effectiveness.
