How does it work?
Nafarelin is a medicine that is similar to a hormone produced naturally in the brain, known as gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH), but possesses a more potent action. Gonadotrophin releasing hormone acts on a gland in the brain (pituitary gland) to control the production and release of other hormones, particularly those that act on the ovaries and testes. This causes an increase in production of oestrogen (female sex hormone) and testosterone (male sex hormone).
