How does it work?

Sodium citrate is known as an 'osmotic laxative'. It works by causing water to be drawn into the lower bowel. This increases the water content and volume of the stools, making them softer and easier to pass, therefore relieving constipation. Sodium lauryl sulphate is present in this preparation to lubricate the stools which also helps to relieve constipation.
