When this medicine is applied to the skin it is absorbed into the bloodstream only in very low amounts and so is very unlikely to affect any other medicines that you are taking by mouth.
Oral and rectal brands of metronidazole:
Metronidazole capsules, suspension and injection are also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.

On very rare occasions, people taking anticoagulant medicines such as warfarin have found that using this medicine has enhanced the effect of their anticoagulant.
