Side effects

Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine.   • Worsening of anginal chest pains
  • Impotence
  • Fatigue
  • Awareness of your heart beat (heart palpitations)
  • Dizziness
  • Flushing
  • Enlargement of the gums (gingival hyperplasia)
  • Rash or itching
  • Headache
  • Ankle swelling
  • The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the drug's manufacturer. For more information about any other possible risks associated with this medicine, please read the information provided with the medicine or consult your doctor or pharmacist.

    How can this medicine affect other medicines?

    Felodipine enhances the blood pressure lowering effect of other medicines used to lower blood pressure, such as ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers or diuretics. This may sometimes cause dizziness. The amount of felodipine in the blood is decreased by the following medicines: - phenytoin - carbamazapine - phenobarbital (phenobarbitone). Your doctor may increase your felodipine dose because of this. The amount of felodipine in the blood may be increased by the following medicines: - erythromycin - itraconazole - cimetidine. Your doctor may decrease your felodipine dose if you take any of these medicines. Felodipine may increase the blood level of tacrolimus. If these medicines are taken together your doctor may need to adjust your tacrolimus dose.
