How does it work?
Metipranolol belongs to a group of medicines called beta-blockers. These medicines block beta-receptors in the heart, lungs and other areas of the body.
What is it used for?
- Open angle glaucoma (only for patients who are allergic to preservatives or wear soft contact lenses)
Warning!
- This product may cause temporary blurring of vision. Do not drive or operate machinery until this has worn off.
Not to be used in

Asthma

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Defect of the heart's electrical message pathways resulting in decreased function of the heart (heart block)
- Known sensitivity or allergy to any ingredient

Severe heart failure
- Slow heart rate of less than 50 beats per minute (bradycardia)
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Certain medicines should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. However, other medicines may be safely used in pregnancy or breastfeeding providing the benefits to the mother outweigh the risks to the unborn baby. Always inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning a pregnancy, before using any medicine.

Side effects
- Stinging and redness
- Inflammation of the eyelids and the lining of the eye (allergic blepharoconjunctivitis)
- Disorders of the front layer of the eye (cornea)
- Chronic inflammation of the front parts of the eye (uveitis) and development of grainy material on the surface of the eye (granulomatosis)
- Dry eyes
- Burning, itching and painful sensations in the eye
The side effects listed above may not include all of the side effects reported by the drug's manufacturer.
How can this medicine affect other medicines?
There may be some absorption of metipranolol from the eye into the bloodstream.
