Kaolin and Morphine Mixture

How does it work?

Morphine is used as an antimotility medicine when used for diarrhoea. It relaxes the muscles of the intestine, reducing their activity. This slows the passage of food through the gut, allowing more time for water to be absorbed from the food residue. This reduces the fluidity of faeces and the frequency of bowel movements. Morphine also eases painful muscle contractions and prevents spasm in the gut. Kaolin is an adsorbent medicine used to treat diarrhoea. It has the ability to adsorb some of the bacterial toxins that often cause diarrhoea.
