How can this medicine affect other medicines?

The effect of carbamazepine, ethosuxamide and phenytoin is increased when isoniazid is taken at the same time because the isoniazid inhibits their metabolism by the liver. The level of ketoconazole in the blood may be reduced by isoniazid. Isoniazid increases the risk of liver damage when taken with carbamazapine. The combination of cycloserine and isoniazid increases the risk of toxicity to the central nervous system and patients on these two anti-TB drugs should be monitored closely. Isoniazid may increase the level of theophylline in the blood. Isoniazid increases the risk of liver damage if used with the anaesthetic isoflurane.
