How can this medicine affect other medicines?

When haloperidol is taken with anxiolytics (medicines for anxiety), sleeping tablets and strong painkillers, the sedative effects of these medicines may be increased. There is an increased risk of heart beat irregularities when haloperidol is used with certain medicines:-antiarrhythmics antihistamines antimalarials other antipsychotics calcium channel blockers other medications which alter heart rhythm Haloperidol may have additive side effects when combined with other anticholinergic medicines such as antihistamines, , antispasmodics, muscle relaxants and antiparkinsonian medicines. Haloperidol may reduce or inhibit the blood pressure lowering effect of guanethidine. Ritonavir may increase the blood levels of haloperidol, increasing the risk of adverse effects. Haloperidol may impair the antiparkinsonian effects of levodopa. Levodopa may also impair the antipsychotic effects of haloperidol. The following medicaines caused a decrease in the blood levels of haloperidol: quinidine carbamazepine phenobarbital phenytoin rifampicin Haloperidol may increase the blood levels of tricyclic antidepressants, resulting in an increased risk of adverse effects.
