How does it work?

Fluoromethalone belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids. These act inside the cells to decrease the release of certain chemicals that are important in the immune system. These chemicals would normally cause inflammation resulting in pain, heat, irritation and swelling. By decreasing the release of these chemicals in a particular area, inflammation is reduced. Fluoromethalone is commonly used for the short-term treatment of inflammation of the eye due to allergy, injury or infection. Polyvinyl alcohol lubricates the eye and therefore helps relieve discomfort in a dry and inflamed eye.
