Fibro-Vein

How does it work?

Sodium tetradecyl sulphate, when injected into a vein, acts by damaging the inner wall. It is used in compression sclerotherapy for varicose veins. In this treatment the vein is compressed after sodium tetradecyl sulphate has been injected so that clot formation is minimal. Scar tissue forms within the vein, producing a fibrous plug which permanently blocks off the vein.
