How does it work?
Pyrimethamine belongs to a group of medications called the antimalarials. It is combined with a sulphonamide antibiotic called sulfadoxine. This combination is used in the treatment of a type of malaria caused by the parasite Plasmodium falciparum.

Warning!
- People taking this medicine should have regular blood tests.
- Adequate folate supplementation should be given to women who are pregnant.
Use with caution in

Asthma
- Kidney disease
- Lack of the enzyme G6PD in the blood (G6PD deficiency)
- Liver disease
Not to be used in

Allergy to any sulphonamide medicine
- Blood disorders
- Life long inherited blood diseases which can cause a variety of symptoms, including mental health problems (porphyrias)
- Liver failure
- Premature babies and during the first two months of life
- Severely decreased kidney function
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
