How does it work?
Magnesium carbonate when mixed in water combines with citric acid to form magnesium citrate which acts as an 'osmotic laxative'. It works by causing water to be drawn into the lower bowel. This increases the water content and volume of the stools, making them softer and easier to pass.
What is it used for?
- Bowel evacuation prior to radiological examinations
- Prior to colorectal surgery
Warning!
- It is important to drink plenty of fluids whilst being treated with this medicine.

- High blood levels of magnesium (hypermagnesaemia)
